Well deserved win for Dreigiau

Newcastle Emlyn 'Dreigiau' 2XV 19 -  Tumble 2XV 0

Having had numerous games called off this season by their opponents for various reasons, Emlyn's Dreigiau or 2 XV were delighted that Tumble were prepared to come down to Dol Wiber at very short notice. With Tumbe 1XV being without a fixture this was always going to be a closely contested affair as the visitors strengthened their ranks with some senior players.

The Emlyn side, under their charismatic team manager Haydn Morgan, rose to the occasion and their unbeaten run continued. although on this occasion the bonus point eluded them. Again it was the mixture of youth and experience with the likes of captain Niki Williams, hooker Bedwyr Davies, prop Barry Evans and scrum half Emyr Jones bringing all their years of experience to the fore to bring out the best in youngsters Aled Jones, Carwyn Morgan and Llewelyn Morgan.

Number eight Jones was rightly made man of the match for some powerful runs and good ball control at the base of the scrum. In difficult conditions for running and handling it took Emlyn until half way through the first half before they opened the scoring. Two tries came in quick succession through Emyr Jones and centre Llyr Davies the latter converting his own score.

Spectators had to wait until the second half for the third try scored and converted by Llewelyn Morgan. Considering the conditions the game was played in good spirits with both sides attempting to play running rugby.
