Great win for Dreigiau

Newcastle Emlyn 2XV 5 Crymych 2XV 0

Emlyn Dreigiau secured a vital victory in their WRU Conference fixture against Crymych on Saturday. There were smiles all round the Emlyn team and management when the final whistle went as Emlyn were fully deserving of this victory. If Emlyn outside half Crwys Rees had had his place kicking boots on the red and whites would have been out of sight, otherwise his general play and kicking out of hand could not be faulted. Emlyn were guilty of squandering three glorious try scoring opportunities when individuals failed to realise that there were overlaps and held on to the ball to long.

The only try of the game came in the second half and was an absolute belter with young scrum half Ifan Thomas showing a fine turn of speed to sprint some forty metres to score in the corner. There were some excellent individual performances from Bedwyr Davies and veteran Emyr Jones but a special mention must be made of the front row of captain Barry Evans, Dafydd Davies and Niki Williams who more than held their own against experienced opponents.

In the end it was in the words of their inspirational team manager, Haydn Morgan, 'a fantastic performance by the whole side'.
